Choosing the Venue
When planning your wedding, the biggest decision you’ll make is where to have your ceremony and reception – for some couples it’s in two different locations, for others both happen at the same place. Whatever you decide to do, it’s important to book early and confirm your date, especially if you’re getting married during the peak summer season. On the Mornington Peninsula you really are spoilt for choice – the sheer variety of locations, from rustic wineries to idyllic beachside properties, is amazing. There are spaces that can handle large sit down weddings with all the trimmings, while others are perfectly suited to intimate affairs for a select few. Some even have accommodation attached, allowing you a space to prepare and, eventually, retire to at the end of a long and emotional day.
Summer is a great time to get married, but there are benefits to be had by booking your wedding during the cooler months. It’s usually easier to get your chosen venue and often deals are available for booking off-season – speak to your venue and see what they can do for you.
Seating arrangements depend on the type of wedding you’re having – a seated dinner means that everyone has an assigned chair, whereas cocktail weddings often mean guests are on their feet for a long time, so it’s courteous in this instance to make sure that there is enough seating available – either informal groupings of chairs, or even lounge areas using cushions and vintage sofas for a funky eclectic feel. Also, remember to match your guest list to your venue - occupancy numbers are determined by fire regulations so ‘squeezing in’ a few more just won’t be possible in most instances.
However you decide to celebrate your day, our friendly local businesses will work hard to ensure that everything is perfect – using top quality local produce, excellent service and beautiful spaces to create a wedding as individual as you are.
