Celebrants
If you choose to be married in a civil ceremony, rather than religious ceremony, you’ll require the services of a celebrant. When choosing a celebrant, it’s important to find one with whom you feel comfortable, as they will be guiding you through the most emotionally charged and important part of your day – your ceremony. Whether you have 16 guests or 600, your celebrant will prepare you and help you to relax as you exchange your vows.
Your celebrant works with you to create a ceremony which is meaningful and personal – they can offer advice regarding structure, provide examples of other marriage ceremonies and recommend readings, music or poems. If you attend a wedding prior to your own, keeping the order of service booklet to use as a template for your own vows is a smart idea, as is using the internet to find poems, sayings and readings which speak to you as part of your day. Writing your own vows can be a very emotional experience, and your celebrant can advise you as to which things will work and which may not, as well as letting you know about certain legal elements which need to be included as part of your vows.
On your wedding day, your celebrant should entertain and engage your guests, as well as manage the tempo and tone of your ceremony – they are also in charge of filing the legal documents which will make your marriage part of public record and render you legally married. Finding a celebrant can be as easy as choosing one you’ve already seen in action at another wedding, but, if you are unsure, we can heartily recommend the talented and professional celebrants seen here in TOAST – each has their own style, years of experience, local knowledge and all are able to help you create a ceremony which is as unique and special as you are.

Nola CoulthurstWhy settle for a ‘one size fits all’ Ceremony? Your Wedding Day deserves a Ceremony written ‘just for you’, created using your personal stories, sprinkled with anecdotes, humour and words crafted to paint a picture. Include family, friends, rituals and symbols? Absolutely! Then choose a Celebrant who has ‘personality’, ‘engages’ with your guests, and provides a ‘Ceremony to remember’. That’s me!!
